Most of the time, I like to consider myself a preppy person. But other times, I realize that I'm not as "preppy" as I'd like to be. Don't even get me started about how hard it is to remain preppy in a state that's focused on the "hipster" and "country" aspects of fashion. Did you know that the only Lilly store in New York is in the city? That's over four hours from where I live. No way I'm driving there just to buy an Elsa ;p. Additionally, the only Vineyard Vines stores are also only in the city. That leaves me with no choice but to order online! And you know how that goes..shipping can be super expensive sometimes, and if they do offer free shipping, it's usually over something like $125, and maybe I didn't want to spend that much.
Let's talk about those cute Tory boots and the fashionable Jack Rogers. In upstate, New York, I forever remain torn about whether or not to purchase them. I bought two pairs of Jacks earlier this summer, and ultimately decided that with the totally bipolar weather of NY, I felt as if I'd never get a chance to wear them. The sandals are way too cute to have them get covered in mud as soon as I leave my house. Tory Burch boots are gorgeous, but not warm enough or sturdy enough to wear through New York winters. With rain and sleet and snow up to my knees, spending $300 on boots that will just soak through doesn't strike me as a good idea.
On top of everything, most people in my area don't even KNOW what Lilly Pulitzer and Tory Burch and Jack Rogers and Vineyard Vines are. Alas, I try to stay as preppy as I can, though it can be difficult at times.
Anyone else in the North find it difficult or is it just me? Let me know below and we can all wallow in self pity together :p
Stay Preppy!
